PRIME X Community Applications - FAQ
Community Grants
1. Who can apply for PRIME X Community Grants?
Community-based organizations in Manitoba that support youth and family mental health are eligible to apply. Partnerships with academic researchers are required. These can be pre-existing, or PRIME can help facilitate a match through our matchmaking process.
2. Do I need an academic partner before applying?
No, you do not need an academic partner at the time of application. If you already have a partner, list them in your application. If not, PRIME can help connect you with a researcher who shares similar interests.
3. What documents are required for community grant applications?
• A completed application form.
• A letter of support if the applicant is not in an organizational leadership role.

Student Fellowships
4. Who can apply for the PRIME X Student Fellowship?
Undergraduate students at Manitoban colleges or universities are eligible to apply, provided they partner with a community organization. Community organizations may also apply to host a student fellow, either with a student they already have in mind or by requesting PRIME to facilitate a match.
5. Do I need an existing partner to apply for the Student Fellowship?
No, an existing student/community partnership is not required at the time of application. You may indicate a preference in your application, and PRIME can help facilitate a match with a student or community organization.
6. If I am a community organization applying for a student fellowship and already have a student in mind, do both of us need to apply?
Yes. The community organization must submit an application, and the student must also complete their own application as a Student Applicant. If a student applies first, they must ensure their host community organization also submits a corresponding Community Organization Applicant form.
7. What documents are required for Student Fellowship applications?
• Community Applicants: A letter of support if the applicant is not in an organizational leadership role.
• Student Applicants: CV/resume, transcripts (official or unofficial), and application form responses.
General Information
8. Do team members and students involved in the project need to be PRIME members?
Yes. All community members, students, staff and team members participating in the project must complete the PRIME membership survey.
10. What can PRIME X Community funds be used for?
Grant funds may be used to support Indigenous ceremonial and cultural offerings, participant engagement activities (including compensation), knowledge exchange events, biostatistical or other research support services, salaries for research support staff, non-salary services, facility access fees, computer software, and other research-related supplies.
Grant funds may not be used for institutional overhead or surcharges, travel or accommodation unrelated to the project, equipment charges such as service contracts, publication or dissemination costs not connected to the funded project, patient chart retrieval or reproduction, professional fees, or computer hardware.
9. What should I expect in terms of payments?
All payments will be issued on a monthly basis.
11. How do I submit my application?
Applications must be submitted through the application form available on the PRIME website.Attach all required documents in PDF format using the naming convention:

12. When are applications due?
Applications must be submitted by October 17, 2025, at 5:00 PM (CST).
